Seville Airport (IATA code: SVQ and ICAO code: LEZL), also popularly known as Seville-San Pablo Airport, is currently the only airport in Seville, capital of Andalusia, and is located 10 kilometers northeast of this City, between the limits of the cities of Seville and Rinconada.
Its traffic is mainly of a national nature, with Barcelona leading the way, although in recent years there has been a notable increase in European and international traffic: France, Italy and the United Kingdom mainly.
The Seville Airport operates with a single runway and a terminal building with a design rooted in the Sevillian culture.
The Airbus Defense & Space facilities of the aerospace company Airbus Group are also located within the airport grounds, and are intended for the assembly, revision and maintenance of several aircraft models of the company.
The airport is closed at night from 1.30 am to 4.30 am in winter and summer. However, passengers who need to stay in the terminal at dawn because their flight leaves first thing in the morning, will be able to do so as long as they are in possession of their boarding card to be able to show it to the security personnel who so require.
The airport’s traffic is mainly of a national nature, its main destination being the Barcelona Airport, although in recent years there has been a notable increase in European and international traffic. The airport is, however, the fourth by volume of cargo of Spain and the tenth by volume of passengers.
Its last remodeling was carried out for the Universal Exhibition of Seville, in 1.992, for which a terminal building with a design rooted in the Sevillian culture was constructed. The aircraft parking platform was also extended and a new control tower was built.
